Ginger Beer CP Soap

Yield: 8 Bars  |  Est. Time: 1 Hour  |  Level: Advanced – Danger Chemicals

About This Recipe:
The beer powder adds an extra creamy lather to the soap while the ginger root extract acts as a natural colorant.  The combination of the oils and butters make this a hard but cleansing and conditioning soap. The fragrance of Seven Kingdoms Ale is an intoxicating blend of grapefruit, honey, orange peel, lemon and ginger.

Directions:
WARNING: This project and these instructions have been written for someone who has experience making soap and knows the potential dangers due to working with sodium hydroxide. It will not outline all safety methods of working with dangerous chemicals, it is simply a soap recipe for advanced soap makers.
  1. To polypropylene pitcher, add water and then slowly add lye. Mix well and set aside.
  2. To metal pot, add olive oil, coconut oil, sunflower oil, shea butter and castor oil. Heat on stove top or hot plate until liquid then set aside to cool.
  3. Add beer powder to oils and stick blend to mix powder.
  4. When both lye water and oils have cooled to below 120°F, carefully pour lye water into oils. Stick blend until emulsified. Add fragrance oil, stirring by hand to blend in. Then stick blend to fully incorporate.
  5. Pour 30 oz. of batter into separate pitcher or metal pot. Add ginger root powder and stick blend until batter reaches a thicker trace.
  6. Pour soap into loaf mold. Tap on counter to smooth out batter.
  7. Pour remaining batter over the top and use a spoon to texture the top, pushing the batter towards the middle.
  8. Cover soap and wrap towels around the mold for insulation. Placing mold on a heating pad on low setting will also help bring soap to a full gel. Let set for at least 24 hours.
  9. If not wanting soap to gel, place mold in fridge for 24 hours.
  10. Remove soap from mold and slice into bars. Allow soap to cure for at least four weeks.
  11. Package and label accordingly.
To Use: Lather with water onto skin. Rinse off. Avoid contact with eyes.
