Recipe Directions

  1. NOTE: If you are making these products for sale, good manufacturing practices recommend you wear a hairnet, gloves and a mask. We also recommend a clean apron.
  2. In 3 separate beakers, mix 1 oz. glycerin with 3 powder dyes. For coral dye, add 1.5 tsp. For black and green and .5 tsp color. Mix dry powder into glycerin before mixing with mini-mixer.
  3. Mix each color well with the mini-mixer to dissolve all powder into glycerin. Be sure to rinse mixer between colors. Set beakers aside.
  4. Place heart silicone mold on cookie sheet. This will add stability if the mold needs to be moved.
  5. Weigh 4 oz. of Crystal Clear soap base. Place in glass measuring cup. Heat in microwave until melted.
  6. Add black liquid color to melted soap until desired shade is achieved.
  7. Pour soap into small heart cavities. Spritz tops of cavitites with alcohol to dissolve any air bubbles. Set aside and let soap harden.
  8. Once soap has completely hardened, remove all hearts from tube mold.
  9. The hearts can be kept whole for "heart seeds" or cut in half lengthwise. These will look like real watermelon seeds.
  10. Place plastic loaf mold on cookie sheet. This will add stability and also help keep your work area clean.
  11. Weigh 57 oz. of crystal clear soap. Cut up into small chunks and place in large glass measuring cup. Heat in microwave until completely melted.
  12. To clear soap, add coral liquid color until desired shade is achieved. Keep in mind color will look lighter when soap is sliced.
  13. Add 1.5 oz. of Fresh Picked Watermelon fragrance oil. Mix well.
  14. Pour about 1 inch of coral soap into loaf mold. Spritz with alcohol.
  15. Once soap has hardened, spritz again before pouring more soap. Pour enough melted soap to just cover entire loaf area.
  16. Spritz some of the "seeds" and place into melted soap. Pour enough coral soap over seeds to set them in place. Spritz again with alcohol.
  17. Continue in this manner, pouring small amounts of coral soap and adding or dispersing seeds in layers. Be sure to spritz well between pouring and also spritzing seeds so they adhere to soap.
  18. Soap may need to be slightly remelted if it starts to thicken up between pours. Be sure soap temperature is not over 125 degrees when repouring so it does not melt seeds.
  19. Once all coral soap has been poured, let entire loaf set up.
  20. Weigh and cut up 15 oz. of goats milk soap base. Heat in microwave until melted.
  21. Add .5 oz. of fragrance oil and mix well.
  22. Spritz top of coral soap with alcohol and pour goats milk soap over the top. Spritz again to dissolve air bubbles. Let soap harden.
  23. Melt remaining 3 oz. of crystal clear soap. Add green liquid color until desired shade is achieved.
  24. Spritz top of goat milk soap with alcohol and pour green soap on top to complete watermelon rind.
  25. Spritz top again with alcohol and let soap harden.
  26. Remove loaf from mold once soap has completely hardened.
  27. Cut into slices using straight or wavy soap cutter. Wrap and label accordingly.
