Lemon Butter Blend

International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI):
Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil and Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil and Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Wax and Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil

Directions:

DIRECTIONS: Slowly stir melted product into the oil portion of your formulation.  Common use levels are lip products 5-100%, cold process soap 3-6%, lotions and creams 3-5%.  Can be applied directly to the skin.

TIPS: The average melting point for the butter is 104°F. Butters provide moisturizing properties to products. To minimize greasy after feel we recommend blending with 1-3% cornstarch or isopropyl myristate.  Test your final product to insure optimal performance. 

STORAGE: Store in an airtight, cool, dark location.  When stored properly, best used within 1 year from date of purchase.

"Whipped body butter" COMMENTS:  Lemon is my favorite scent and this butter blend does not disappoint. It's not overpowering or synthetic smelling. I blended it with coconut oil to create a summertime body whip. I also created solid lotion/perfume bars with it. Both products turned out fantastic! "Smells just like Lemon" COMMENTS:  I used this in a body butter cause the smell was lemon, there was no need to add anything else. I did add some lemon essential oil, very little. "Oh yum!" COMMENTS:  This smells so amazing that I just want to eat it! I actually haven't made any products with it yet, but I have applied it alone as a lip balm and it is so yummy and creamy that I might just put it in lip balm tubes on its own. If you want a perfect sweet-tart lemon smell, then you have to get this! I am curious if this has any photosensitizing properties, because the description didn't say, but no matter what I will be a repeat buyer. "Smooth and leaves skin silky" COMMENTS:  I combine this and use the stick blender to mix into shea butter (ultra refined), to create a butter to rub on feet as part of my foot scrub line. Customers love the way that it feels and maintains the softness after using scrub. It can also double up as being used to moisturize hands after doing hand scrub, then use cuticle salve (receipe on site). Makes great product line, customers love it. "Awesome Scent!" COMMENTS:  I brought this thinking this can't possible smell as good as the real thing - it does!! Made a wonderful sugar lip scrub from this butter. Staff Answer You can melt this and add any additional oils to help thin it out into a liquid and you would not need any preservative unless you are incorporating water. Coconut milk is water soluble so it would not mix. Staff Answer You can temper the butter as you would with shea. Melt the butter down in a double boiler or on very low heat on a stove top, not in the microwave. Either place melted butter immediately into freezer, or leave on low, even heat for 20 minutes. Staff Answer The NaOH value is needed for calculating how much lye is needed for making cold process soap. You can find another oil with the same value and use this in the calculator for determining lye amounts. Therefore we cannot determine what the phototoxic level is. Since citrus oils are known to cause photosensitivity it is wise to use extreme caution when used on the skin prior to sun exposure. I make a lovely whipped body butter than is very versatile when it comes to different types of butters, you could add this, Shea Butter, coconut oil and some sweet almond oil for a lovely whipped butter. It will retain the lemon scent after melting down, however it will depend on what percent you use in your recipe and what other ingredients you add.
