Vanilla Color Stabilizer for Cold Process Soap prevents the vanilla in fragrance oils from turning lye based soap formulations brown. It will not prevent color changes due to ingredients other than vanilla. Must use in a well ventilated area.

Directions:
DIRECTIONS: In a glass or plastic mixing container, slowly stir 1 part Vanilla Color Stabilizer to 2 parts fragrance oil. When mixing with fragrances with over 10% vanilla, use a 1 to 1 ratio. Stir well and allow to sit for 2 minutes then immediately add to base formula. Mixture best used within 15 minutes of mixing. TIPS: This product prevents the vanilla in fragrance oils from turning finished products brown. It will not prevent color changes in ingredients other than vanilla. Do not store this product after mixing. The stabilizer will turn into a solid state in temperatures below 68°F. To return to a liquid state, place bottle in warm water. Test your final product to insure optimal performance. STORAGE: Store in an airtight, cool, dark location. When stored properly, best used within 1 year from date of purchase. WARNING: GLOVES, MASK AND PROTECTIVE EYEWEAR MUST BE WORN WHEN WORKING WITH THIS PRODUCT. DO NOT INHALE.

COMMENTS: I was extremely scared to use this because it seemed like so many people where having a hard time with it. But I kept reading the comments and responses from the company and bit the Bullet. I'm unsure how long I should wait for results, but here are my thoughts. I made my soap on 1/15/23, let it it in my loaf until 1/18/23 and cut into bars that morning. It's curing now. I assume discoloration should occur quickly like before I unmolded it. But nope. My babies are perfect so far. ??. Definitely a staple because the majority of my FO contains vanillin.

COMMENTS: I've always been one to avoid fragrance oils that have vanillin in them, especially ones with 2% or higher. My customers HATE brown soaps, and they do not sell at all. I have some specific fragrance oils that I really wanted to use that contained vanilla, so I thought I would give this product a try. I've used this product in 3 batches over the last few months, and I think I am hooked. I mixed the product at the proper rate in my fragrance oil blends, mixed it up, and let it sit for 2 minutes. Despite it looking somewhat separated when I mixed the fragrance oil into the soap batter, it worked like a dream! I will continue to buy this product and I highly recommend it!

COMMENTS: I have now used this product on two bars. I followed the directions exactly the first time and added it after two minutes of mixing with fragrance oil. Worked perfectly. The second time, I forgot and waited a little too long to add it...maybe 20 minutes later? It turned my batter very lumpy. I was able to work most of the lumps out, but if I had waited any longer, I don't know if I could have saved it. The first bar I made is now about 3 weeks old, and it is a beautiful white. No discoloration. I am happy with this product and plan to keep it around.

COMMENTS: This works but..it has a strong smell, that at first I didn't notice but then I got a funny metallic taste in my mouth and realized what it was. I does not completely blend with some FO's. You'll see in the Q and A's a question about it separating like oil and water, and it does do that with some FO's but not all for some reason. DON'T microwave this to heat it up! My microwave sounded like I put foil in it when I tried. It was recommended in the Q and A's with the separation issue to heat both the VS and FO, but if you're gonna try this then just heat up the FO. Also, it made a batch of "unicorn poop" CP soap smell like sulfur but after a couple weeks it went away. This was an FO that it separated from like oil/water and never would blend together with but I used it anyway and it might be why it ended up stinking. These are some things you may experience, and I suggest wearing a mask, but it does keep your soap from turning brown.
NOTE FOR MELT AND POUR: I also saw a question about someone running out of the VS for melt and pour and wanted to know if using the VS for CP would work and I tried it out and so far no issues so I'd say its ok to use this for melt and pour.

"Disappointing for HP soap" |

COMMENTS: I was told this product can be used for hot process soap as well. I waited until my batter was at 140F and added my mix. While it worked very well for keeping the soap from turning dark, the smell is so faint, one has a hard time smelling anything at all. I used Pumpkin Crush, a very strong scent so I was very disappointed that it never returned after the drying process. I will write it off as a loss and am glad I only made one batch. I rather have a near black soap than one that doesn't smell.

COMMENTS: Mostly when working with fragrances that have a high vanilla/vanillin content, I will just incorporate darker colors into the design. But sometimes you may have a specific design in mind that goes hand in hand with a certain fragrance that just happens to contain vanilla, and for those times, this product has proved to be a real lifesaver. Recently, I used it with fragrances containing 3%-4% vanilla, and the soap turned out great! Nice product.

COMMENTS: I am back to re-order this AGAIN (about my 3rd or 4th time??). It really works. I've read various comments in soap groups that "vanilla stabilizers are a waste of money and don't work...embrace the brown." Not the case with this one. I don't use many FOs with a lot of vanillin, but especially in fall scents the warm notes are really popular. This product maintains lighter soap colors even after several months (if I even have soap left that long).

COMMENTS: Awful, strong scent, but that doesn't stick in the cured soap. It works great added at somewhere between 25% and 100% of fragrance oil weight, depending on vanilla content. I'll never be without this stuff. Wish I could afford the 1 pound bottle!

COMMENTS: After a handful of soaps turning brown I broke down and bought it. I am so glad I did. I had quit using anything with vanillin in it ( I had a lot of scents just sitting in the shelf because of it) so I thought I might as well give it a try. What a difference! I haven't had any color morphing since I started using this product. It is definitely a staple in my soaping inventory from now on.

COMMENTS: I'm new to the product, so far I find it works. It's strong odor when I open it, but it subsides and works. Sometimes not right away. For example, soaps I made 4 days ago were supposed to be blue, but until last night they were green, today they are blue. So again , i am new to this product. The Fragrance still comes through after a few days to a week, depending on the type.

COMMENTS: my soap did not discolor at all when I added the stabilizer. I used the ratio recommended for the amount of vanillin in the fragrance oil. But if added to early to the fragrance it thickens and separates from the fragrance.

COMMENTS: I bought 2 bottles of this product because I was making a Taiwan swirl design in the of my soaps. After I mixed it with the fragrance oil, I immediately smelled a difference. I was hoping maybe it would change back once it was mixed in the batter or after a full cure. But no, it stayed a candy smell. I made this particular soap for my husband and it smelled like candy now. I was using Almond Biscotti fragrance oil which contained a little vanillin. And then the soap started turning brown within 3 weeks while it was still curing. So, I decided to never use it again. Once was enough. I gave it away to someone who seems to have success in using vanilla stabilizers.

COMMENTS: I have had varied success with this product, but that was before I noticed I let my 1 pound bottle expire. I recommend buying in small increments to maintain potency. Storing in the fridge may help, haven't tried that yet; it may be more of an issue of evaporation of key ingredients, though, rather than temperature that is causing this product struggling to last even a year in a cabinet.

COMMENTS: I used this according to the label instructions in cold process soaps with scents that I had previously had problems discoloring due to vanilla content. The colors remained true. One bit of advice- this only prevents color change due to vanilla- not any other ingredients. One scent with a high vanilla content mixed with the CP vanilla stabilizer turned a lovely but unexpected shade of butter yellow.

COMMENTS: First of all I'm very happy this even exists. With that being said, there is something weird about the finished bar. It's all white and pretty but whatever surface of the soap was exposed to the air and not covered by the mold gets a greasy brown layer on it. I mean you can clean it off I guess with a damp rag but if you have designs and stuff you could ruin them. So strange. I'll clean them with the rag, better that then the blackish brown mess

COMMENTS: Life has it that the sweet FOs are the ones we want to pipe light colors with and unfortunately, a white frosting that smells like sugar will turn brown. Therefore, WSS has made a way for me to have that white frosting that smells like sugar without it turning brown through the Vanilla Color Stabilizer. So far, my soaps have remained the original bright colors. This is not a want, it's a need.

COMMENTS: Very impressed with this product. I have used vanilla stabilizers in the past that are very strong in the odor they produce prior to being added to CP soap batter. This one however does have a odor but it does not appear to be as strong as other brands I have used in the past. Did not speed up trace or cause any problems in the CP soap recipe I used it in. And! It worked very well, my colors remained true with no discoloration at all! Very happy about that!

COMMENTS: This Vanilla stabilizer works well up to a point. I used in a warm vanilla sugar soap. Granted that is very high in vanilla, but about 2 months after it was made the soap was dark, dark brown. It works pretty well in scents with a lower % of vanilla.

COMMENTS: Bought this a while ago and have used it in several batches of soap with great success so far!
I haven't noticed any discoloration of the various soaps due to FO's, after using this VCS with it, even when using it with FO's from other companies.
It's very easy to use, and just requires that you mix it together with the FO just a few minutes before adding it to your soap "batter."
Overall I am happy with the purchase and will more than likely buy it again, when needed. :)

COMMENTS: I waited and waited and waited to order this product. Now with the holidays here if I want some open creativity flow I had to order as almost all my fall & Christmas FO's have vanilla. In the past I always just worked my design around the limited color palette of FO's with vanilla but never again! I used these in one recipe where part of the batch had it and part didn't as brown was part of my fall theme. You know what, it worked like a dream! No more limiting myself ever again. Love, LOVE, LOOVE this!

COMMENTS: So far I have had good luck with this keeping my soap white even with a high vanilla content in the FO. I do not like the scent of the stabilizer, but haven't noticed it changing the cured scent of my soap. Make sure you follow the instructions about mixing it, as well as how long to have it sit out before mixing in.

The only time it hasn't worked was with a coconut fragrance oil; my bright yellow color turned to a sandy brown after a couple of weeks- but that was no problem because the soap was called "A Day at the Beach" so it turned out fine.

COMMENTS: This helps prevent oxidation of vanilla in CP soaps. While I love the natural look of dark soaps enriched with vanilla, sometimes you just want a creamy white color on top of your soap (ie. think cupcakes). The stabilizer helps keep whites white instead of brown.

COMMENTS: Can't work and feel safe without that Vanilla Stabilizer. Vanilla smells are good seller and I do like it myself and I can play with color safely with that product. I do mostly CP soap but I use this also in some MP without issue. I don't feel the need to get the one specific for MP. I can be wrong but it's work so far.

COMMENTS: I used this product in my Hot Process soap with titanium dioxide /fragrance and I must say that my white did not turn colors. Also adding it did not effect the scent at all. The scent was still very strong although it was added 1 part fragrance to 1 part stabilizer. It does just as it states and has a great price.

COMMENTS: I learned the hard way that when you make anything with a fragrance oil that has any vanillin, your product (in this case, cp soap) will turn brown. It is just the nature of the product. Some people embrace the color, however I wanted to see if I could get soap to stay it's original color and not turn. I have been successful in doing so with this product. I recently made a small batch of soap with a very high vanilla content fragrance oil, and it is still the same color it was when I made it (over a month ago). Once I run out, I will buy more.

COMMENTS: This does a great job of preventing the cold process soap from discoloring. If you are using a FO that is more than 10% vanillin content; this wont prevent 100% of the discoloration, nothing will. However, it does halt the progression of the discoloration so that it doesn't keep going darker and darker during cure. I will never make another vanilla based CP soap without using this ever again.

COMMENTS: I use it in CP Goat Milk Soap with colors. It really does keep the vanilla discoloring under control. Not much of a learning curve with most scents just use as directed. So far Dragon's Blood is the only fragrance that darkened, but the colors can still be seen. Just use a tad more next time no big deal.
