Hair Conditioner and Detangler Recipe

About This Recipe:

This hair conditioner is sure to make your hair feel silky and smooth. Put a small amount of conditioner in your hand and mix into your wet hair after shampooing. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Contains ingredients such a Argan Oil, Marshmallow Root Powder and Chamomile Extract  to help condition and detangle your hair.

(1) 2 oz Honeyquat

(1) 2 oz Preservative - Sorbic Acid +2 PF (Compare to Optiphen Plus)

(4) 1 Bottle 08 oz Clear Cylinder Round Plastic Bottle 24/410

Recipe Ingredients:

• 23 oz. Distilled Water
• 4.80 oz. Emulsifying Wax - Conditioning
• 2.0 oz. Chamomile Extract - Water Soluble
• 0.65 oz. Honeyquat
• 0.65 oz. Argan Oil
• 0.65 oz. Acai Berries & Satin* Fragrance Oil 415
• 0.30 oz. Preservative - Sorbic Acid +2 PF (Compare to Optiphen Plus)
• 0.10 oz. Marshmallow Root Powder

Equipment From Home:

• (1) Microwave
• (1) Microwave-Safe Measuring Cups (32 oz.)
• (1) Microwave-Safe Measuring Cup (64 oz.)
• (1) Spatula
• (1) Household Iron
• (1) Scissors
• (1) Stick Blender or Hand Mixer
• (1) Scale - Digital Display

Directions:

NOTE: If you are making these products for sale, good manufacturing practices recommend you wear a hairnet, gloves and a mask. We also recommend a clean apron and workspace.

1. To microwave-safe measuring cup, add Emulsifying Wax and Argan Oil and mix together with a spoon. Heat in microwave until wax has completely melted.
2. To another microwave-safe measuring cup, add water. Heat in microwave for about 60 seconds. 
3. Pour wax and oil mixture into the bowl of warm water. Mix slightly with spatula then begin to blend with Stick Blender or Hand Mixer. Mixture will be fairly thick.
4. Add Honeyquat, Chamomile Extract, and Marshmallow Root Powder. Blend well.
5. Add preservative and fragrance oil. The preservative will thin out the product. 
6. Continue to blend until all ingredients are well incorporated and it has started to thicken up. Be sure to scrape sides of bowl and also beaters (or blade) as the wax may collect and start to harden. All the wax needs to be well incorporated into the product.
7. Pour hair conditioner into the (4) 8 oz. bottles. It will thicken as it cools.
8. There will be a small amount of product left. If you choose, you can fill (4) heat seal sample packets with this and give away as samples or to use for travel. Simply place a small amount (1-2 tsps). of product into each packet. Be careful not to overfill.
9. Using a hot iron (on cotton setting) firmly press on the top of the packet to seal it.   
10. Once the bottled lotion is completely cooled, trim dip tubes on pumps to fit bottle length and place on bottles.
11. Label product accordingly. 

To Use:  Apply to wet hair after shampooing. Rinse out.
