Directions:
WARNING: This project and these instructions have been written for someone who has experience making soap and knows the potential dangers due to working with sodium hydroxide. It will not outline safety methods of working with dangerous chemicals, it is simply a soap recipe for advanced soapmakers.
  1. To polypropylene pitcher, add water. In separate polypropylene container add the lye. Carefully pour the lye into the water, stirring until dissolved. Set aside in safe area to cool.
  2. Melt the solid oils either by microwave or stovetop until completely melted.
  3. Add the liquid oils to melted oils to bring the temperature down.
  4. Once the lye water and oils have both cooled down to under 90° F, pour the lye solution into oils and stick blend until emulsified.
  5. Add the essential oil and stir by hand to blend in. Briefly stick blend.
  6. Divide mixture evenly between three pouring containers.
  7. Add two teaspoons of yellow oxide to one container. Add two teaspoons of yellow oxide plus 1/4 tsp. cobalt blue ultramarine to another. Mix both quickly using an immersion blender to disperse the color evenly. You should now have three bases, one uncolored, one yellow and one green.
  8. Pour the colored soap into the uncolored base in four spots. Do not mix in.
  9. Pour the base into your mold. As you pour, the colors will swirl together.
  10. Allow your soap to harden overnight and unmold the next day. If the soap is too soft, allow soap to harden for 48 hours.
  11. Cut soap and let cure for four to six weeks.
To Use: Lather onto wet skin and rinse with warm water. Avoid contact with eyes.
