Directions:
NOTE: This project and these instructions have been written for someone who has experience making soap and knows the potential dangers due to working with sodium hydroxide. It will not outline all safety methods of working with dangerous chemicals, it is simply a soap recipe for advanced soapmakers.
  1. Prepare the lye solution by weighing the water and lye in two separate containers. Pour the lye into the water, carefully mix in a well-ventilated area and set aside to cool while you prepare your oils.
  2. Melt the butters over low heat. Once melted, add the oils.
  3. Weigh the essential and fragrance oils in two different glass containers. Premix the Titanium Dioxide with just enough of the warm oil/butter mixture and stir until smooth.
  4. When the oil/butter mixture and lye-water are at around 115°F, slowly pour the lye-water into the oils.
  5. With a stick blender, stir to light trace.
  6. Split the batter equally into 3 measuring cups and color 1 cup using the premixed white and another with the Matte Lavender Liquid Pigment.
  7. To add the scents, pour half of the Lavender Essential Oil into both the white and the orchid colored soap. Add the Brown Sugar Fragrance Oil to the uncolored batter. Starting with the white soap, stir gently by pulsing the stick blender to mix in fragrances. Then, mix the orchid and finish with the uncolored soap.
  8. With a steady hand, pour the batter using the drop-swirl technique, alternating between each color. Pour in the loaf mold slowly until full and texture the top with a spoon once the batter has thickened up.
  9. Cover the soap to insulate and let it set for 18 to 24 hours.
  10. If the top of the soap has soda ash, run it under hot tap water for 10-15 seconds and shake off excess water. Let it dry before you unmold.
  11. Carefully unmold the loaf and cut into 8 one-inch slices. Cure for 4 to 6 weeks before you package and label.
  12. NOTE: The Brown Sugar Fragrance Oil may discolor to light brown over time. To prevent this, Vanilla Color Stabilizer for CP Soap can be mixed in with the fragrance oil.
To Use: Lather onto wet skin and rinse with warm water. Avoid contact with eyes.
