Debbie May's Best Soap Frosting Recipe

About This Recipe:
This soap frosting can be used to decorate soap cupcakes, bath bombs, etc. Use your imagination to come up with different ways to enhance your products. Ready to package within 24 hours of making.


Shopping List:
(1) 2 lb Premium Ultra White MP Soap Base - 2 lb Tray

(1) 1 lb (single jar) Foaming Bath Whip - Traditional

(1) 2 oz Glycerin - Natural

(2) 2 oz Myristyl Myristate

(1) 2 fl. oz Vanilla Almond Fragrance Oil 624

(1) 1 Set Decorating Bags - 12 inch, Disposable (24 pack)

(1) 1 Set Decorating Tip Set

(1) 1 Piece Beaker - Natural Polypropylene

(1) 1 Each Hairnets - 24 inch Disposable


Recipe Ingredients:
Measure ingredients with a scale or precise measuring tool.



Equipment From Home:

• (1) Mixing Bowl (16 oz.)
• (1) Soap Cutter
• (1) Cutting Mat
• (1) Scale - Digital Display
• (1) Hand Mixer
• (1) Spatula
• (1) Mixing Spoon
• (1) Microwave-Safe Measuring Cup (32 oz.)

Directions:
NOTE: If you are making these products for sale, good manufacturing practices recommend you wear a hairnet, gloves and a mask. We also recommend a clean apron and workspace.
  1. Add 1 lb. of cut up white soap to microwaveable mixing bowl. Heat in microwave in 30 second increments until completely melted. 
  2. Add Foaming Bath Whip and gently stir.
  3. Heat glycerin and myristyl myristate in measuring cup until completely melted.
  4. Whip soap mixture and slowly add glycerin mixture while continuing to whip.
  5. Whip entire mixture, scraping sides occasionally with spatula. 
  6. Once product starts to thicken slightly, add fragrance oil and blend until incorporated.
  7. When frosting just starts to thicken enough to hold its shape, turn off mixer. If necessary, place in fridge for 10-15 minutes to cool and thicken. 
  8. Using a pastry bag with desired decorating tip added to it, fill with soap frosting and decorate the top of each soap cupcake. If desired, add sprinkles, glitter, etc. at this time.
  9. Let product sit for about 24 hours to completely harden. Your soap will then be ready to package.
  10. Should your frosting start to harden up a bit before you have finished piping, reheat and whip slightly with hand mixer to soften it.
  11. NOTE: To color your frosting, add small amount of liquid dye after adding fragrance. Liquid dye can thin out product if too much is used. Powder dyes can also be used.
  12. NOTE: Unused product can be kept in air-tight container for up to 12 months. When ready to use, warm slightly in microwave and whip with hand mixer to desired consistency. 
To Use: Lather onto wet skin. Rinse off with warm water.

NOTE: On 3/28/19, Myristyl Myristate was substituted for the Palm Kernel Flakes. Either ingredient can be used in the same amount.

Ingredient Label: Sorbitol, Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Stearic Acid, Lauric Acid, Sodium Hydroxide, Myristyl Myristate, Sodium Chloride, Fragrance, Titanium Dioxide, Diazolidinyl Urea, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, (color if added).
