This lotion will soak into your skin and leave it feeling soft and smooth for hours. Hemp seed butter is considered one of the "driest" natural oils as it absorbs quickly into the skin. Provides excellent lubricity without being greasy.

(2) 2 oz Emulsifying Wax - Soft & Silky

(2) 2 oz Stearic Acid

(1) 2 fl. oz Rainforest Fragrance Oil 502

(1) 2 oz Preservative - Sorbic Acid +2 PF

(1) 1/2 oz Vitamin E Natural T-50

(1) 1 Piece Beaker - Natural Polypropylene

(8) 1 Bottle 08 oz Clear Boston Round Plastic Bottle - 24/410

Recipe Ingredients:

Measure ingredients with a scale or precise measuring tool.

• 48 oz. Distilled Water (not included in kit)
• 5 oz. Hemp Seed Butter Blend
• 5 oz. Hemp Seed Oil - Virgin (Dark Green)
• 3.20 oz. Emulsifying Wax - Soft & Silky
• 2.55 oz. Stearic Acid
• 1 oz. Rainforest Fragrance Oil 502
• 0.65 oz. Preservative - Sorbic Acid +2 PF
• 0.50 oz. Vitamin E Natural T-50

Equipment From Home:

• (1) Microwave
• (2) Microwave-Safe Measuring Cup (64 oz.)
• (1) Stick Blender
• (1) Spatula
• (1) Mixing Spoon
• (1) Scale - Digital Display
• (1) Thermometer
• (1) Distilled Water

Directions:

NOTE: If you are making these products for sale, good manufacturing practices recommend you wear a hairnet, gloves and a mask. We also recommend a clean apron, workspace and sanitized equipment.

Place 48 oz. of water into a large bowl and set aside.
In microwave-safe measuring cup, add Hemp Seed Oil, Hemp Butter, Emulsifying Wax and Stearic Acid. Heat in microwave until stearic and wax are completely melted.
Heat water in microwave for 2 minutes. Slowly pour water into the warm oil/butter mixture. Product will immediately turn a whitish color.
Using a stick blender or hand mixer, begin to blend. Continue until mixture starts to thicken.
Add vitamin E and fragrance oil. Continue blending.
Check temperature to be sure lotion is under 176° F. Add preservative and blend until all ingredients are well incorporated. Lotion may be thin but will thicken once it cools.
Pour lotion into bottles and let completely cool. Trim dip tubes before inserting into bottles.
Label product accordingly.

To Use: Apply to dry skin as needed.

	Staff Answer We are not sure why this might be separating in your lotion. Be sure to add the recommended amount. Your lotion may just need to be mixed further until the preservative is well incorporated.

	I added a little glycerin and that took care of the issue. Perhaps the recipe should be revised because it doesn't include glycerin in it.

	Staff Answer We have never had issues with any separation with this recipe. After adding this preservative, it can thin out the lotion. That might be why it was separating. Also, make sure the waxes have completely melted. You may need to continue whipping until it thickens back up. Or, place in the fridge until it thickens back up again. Even though we have not had this problem, we will post your suggestions in case others have this problem also. Thank you.

	"are the liquid items supposed to be weighed in Mass ounces or (volume) fluid ounces? for instance i bought my hemp seed oil which is liquid and the bottle is labeled 1lb. which one do i use. I've been measuring my liquids as fluid ounces and it seems to be working fine.. but i am just wondering because I'm trying to figure cost."

	I made this yesterday, it came out great so far as I can tell. But the lotion didn't really thicken until about an hour after is poured it into the bottles. And I stick blended it for about 20 minutes. My point is, if you've never made lotion before, you might want to try it a few times with the distilled water until you feel really comfortable, and then try goats milk. By the way, this made a beautiful lotion I almost don't want to sell it. Thanks, WSP!
