Directions:

NOTE: This project and these instructions have been written for someone who has experience making soap and knows the potential dangers due to working with sodium hydroxide. It will not outline all safety methods of working with dangerous chemicals, it is simply a soap recipe for advanced soapmakers.
  1. CUPCAKE BASE:
  2. Prepare the lye solution by weighing 7.98 oz. water and 2.976 oz. lye in two separate containers. Pour the lye into the water, carefully mix in a well-ventilated area and set aside to cool.
  3. Measure 5.25 oz. coconut oil, 5.25 oz. palm oil, 9.5 oz. olive oil and 1 oz. cocoa butter in a microwave-safe container and melt in the microwave. Set aside.
  4. In plastic beaker measure out 1.3 oz. fragrance oil and set aside. Place cupcake silicone molds on a jelly roll pan for support.
  5. When both the lye mixture and the oils are 120° F or below, pour the lye mixture into the oils.
  6. Stick blend until you reach a light trace. Add the fragrance and 1.5 tsp. of Rose Gold Mica and mix by hand or with a few short bursts of the stick blender. Pour the soap batter into the molds and tap the jelly roll pan on the counter to release any air bubbles.
  7. Allow to set at least 24 hours or longer until soap is firm enough to unmold. Remove soap from molds and place back onto jelly roll pan.
  8. CUPCAKE FROSTING:
  9. Prepare the lye solution by weighing 6.08 oz. water and 2.39 oz. lye in two separate containers. Pour the lye into the water, carefully mix in a well-ventilated area and set aside to cool while you prepare your oils.
  10. Measure 6.5 oz coconut oil, 6.5 oz. palm oil and 3 oz. olive oil in a microwave-safe container and melt in the microwave. You want both the lye/water and oils to be room temperature before mixing. Set aside for several hours or place in the refrigerator to cool.
  11. In plastic beaker measure 1 oz. fragrance oil and set aside. Fill the powder spray set with 2 tsp. of Rose Gold Mica, place top on and set aside for later.
  12. When the oils are room temperature they will be solid, mix by hand and transfer them to the attached bowl for the stand mixer. Pour the room temperature lye mixture into the oils and carefully stir in by hand.
  13. The mixing process can take about 30-45 minutes, be sure you do not leave the mixer unattended during this process. Begin mixing with the stand mixer at a medium-high speed. Within 10-15 minutes the mixture will start to thicken to a thin frosting consistency. At this point add the fragrance oil and 1 tsp. of French White Mica and continue mixing on medium-high speed.
  14. The fragrance oil will likely thin the frosting, continue mixing until you reach a frosting consistency. This can take 30 minutes or longer. When you have reached this consistency, turn off the mixer and begin filling the Decorator Pro or piping bag with the frosting.
  15. Pipe frosting onto all of the cupcake bases, refilling the Decorator Pro as needed. After all piping is complete, spray the tops of the cupcakes with Rose Gold Mica.
  16. Allow to set at least 24 hours before handling the cupcakes.
  17. Let soap cure 4-6 weeks. Place each cupcake into an organza bag and pull shut. Label accordingly.
To Use: Lather onto wet skin and rinse with warm water. Avoid contact with eyes.
