About This Recipe:
This recipe produces the cutest carrot soaps! They are scented with Cranberry Mandarin Carrot fragrance, which is a twist on the classic cranberry and mandarin scent. We think these will be perfect for summer farmer’s markets.

Measure ingredients with a scale or precise measuring tool.

• 7.90 oz. Distilled Water
• 3.95 oz. Sodium Hydroxide Flakes
• 15.15 oz. Olive Oil - Refined A
• 7 oz. Coconut Oil - 76º Melt
• 4.20 oz. Palm Oil
• 1.50 oz. Cranberry Mandarin Carrot Fragrance Oil 964
• 0.85 oz. Castor Oil
• 0.85 oz. Shea Butter - Ultra Refined
• 0.50 oz. Sodium Lactate 60%
• 0.05 oz. Carrot Powder
• 1/2 Teaspoon(s) Siesta Sunset Orange Mica Powder
• 2 .15 ml Scoop NuTone Red Mica Powder
• 1 .15 ml Scoop Black Knight Mica Powder
• 1/8 Teaspoon(s) Matte Woodland Green Pigment Powder

Directions:
WARNING: This project and these instructions have been written for someone who has experience making soap and knows the potential dangers due to working with sodium hydroxide. It will not outline all safety methods of working with dangerous chemicals, it is simply a soap recipe for advanced soap makers.
  1. To propylene pitcher, add water. Slowly add lye to water stirring as you pour. Set aside to cool.
  2. To metal pot, add olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, castor oil, and shea butter. Heat on stovetop until all oils are liquid. 
  3. To beaker, add orange powder and to mix & pour funnel pitcher, add green powder. Add small amount of melted oils to both, mix well and set aside.
  4. When the lye solution and oils are both 120ºF, add sodium lactate to lye solution. Mix well.  Pour lye solution into oils and stick blend until light trace.
  5. Mix carrot powder into fragrance oil until smooth, then add to batter. Stir in by hand. 
  6. Pour 14 oz. soap batter to pitcher with green and add orange color to metal pot. Mix orange first and then mix green.
  7. Pour green soap into leafy area of mold cavities and pour orange soap into carrot area of mold cavities. Tap molds on counter to release air pockets.
  8. After at least 24 hours, remove soap from molds.
  9. To beaker, add red powder and spray with rubbing alcohol to create paste. Paint lady bugs on soaps. To another beaker, add black powder and spray with alcohol. Paint lady bug antennas and spots.  
  10. Allow soap to cure for 4-6 weeks.
To Use: Lather with water onto skin. Rinse off. Avoid contact with eyes.
