Red Hibiscus & Acai MP Soap Recipe

This beautiful hibiscus flower represents the Superflower Teas which have become quite a hit with tea lovers everywhere. The soap has a slightly scrubby bottom containing poppy seeds, which really brings the entire Superflower Tea theme together.

Ingredients

  •  30 oz. Detergent Free Clear MP Soap Base - 2 lb Tray
  •  18 oz. Detergent Free Coconut Milk MP Soap Base - 2 lb Tray
  •  40 ml(s) Red Hibiscus & Acai Fragrance Oil 359
  •  1 Teaspoon(s) Crimson Red Wine Mica Powder
  •  1 Teaspoon(s) Sexy Pink Slippers Mica Powder
  •  1 Teaspoon(s) Summer Yellow Daisy Mica Powder
  •  1 Teaspoon(s) Poppy Seeds
  •  1 Piece(s) Hibiscus Soap Mold (MW 05)

INCI Ingredient Label: Sorbitol, Coconut Oil, Propylene Glycol, Stearic Acid, Water, Sodium Hydroxide, Glycerin, Coconut Milk, Titanium Dioxide, Fragrance, Poppy Seeds, Mica, Iron Oxide.

Recipe Directions

NOTE: If you are making these products for sale, good manufacturing practices recommend you wear a hairnet, gloves and a mask. We also recommend a clean apron and workspace.
  1. To a microwave-safe measuring cup, add 4.5 oz. of cut up Detergent Free Coconut Milk MP Soap. Heat in 20 second intervals until soap has completely melted.
  2. Add 4 ml of Red Hibiscus & Acai Fragrance Oil plus 3 micro scoops of Summer Yellow Daisy Mica Powder and mix well. 
  3. Using a plastic dropper, fill in the stems on each flower. This works best if soap is a little hotter and thinner so it is easier to work with. Spritz with alcohol when finished. The leftover soap will be used in a later step.     
  4. To a microwave-safe measuring cup, add 7.5 oz. of cut up Detergent Free Clear MP Soap. Heat in 30 second intervals until soap has completely melted.
  5. Add 6 ml of Red Hibiscus & Acai Fragrance Oil plus 2 micro scoops of Crimson Red Wine Mica Powder and 2 micro scoops of Sexy Pink Slippers Mica Powder. Allow soap to cool down to 120°F.
  6. Spritz yellow stems in each mold cavity with alcohol and pour the melted red soap equally between the 3 soap cavities. Allow the soap to set up.
  7. Remelt the yellow soap from Step 3. Add 1/4 teaspoon of Poppy Seeds. Mix well.
  8. Spritz soap in mold with alcohol. When soap temperature reaches about 120° F, pour into mold cavities until soap reaches the top. Spritz again with alcohol and let soap harden.
  9. Once soap has completely hardened, remove from mold. If soap is difficult to remove, place mold in freezer for 15 - 20 minutes. 
  10. In a small beaker, mix about 2 micro scoops of yellow mica powder with a small amount of alcohol. Stir well. Brush into the middle of each soap flower to finish off the soap. Add more alcohol or mica powder as needed. Let soaps dry completely.     
  11. Repeat above steps to make remaining 9 bars of soap, if desired.
  12. Package as desired. 
  13. Label product accordingly.  
To Use: Lather onto wet skin and rinse with warm water.
