Adding Natural Powders to soaps is becoming increasingly popular as more and more people are becoming more cognizant of products. Rose Hip Powder is an all-natural powder derived from the fruit of roses that your customers will love! The powder produces colors ranging from burgundy to tan to brown depending on usage amounts and your recipe and adds an abundance of features to your soap including a gentle exfoliation. Let's learn how to use it!

Adding Rose Hip Powder to Melt & Pour Soap

Add Rose Hip Powder to your melted Melt & Pour Soap Base at a usage rate of one to three teaspoons per pound of soap.

Use a Suspension Soap Base to keep the powder suspended in the soap. Alternatively, add the powder when the soap is between 125ºF to 130ºF to keep the powder evenly distributed in the soap.

Adding Rose Hip Powder to Cold Process Soap

There are a few different ways to use Rose Hip Powder in cold process soap. We recommend a usage rate of 1 to 3 teaspoons per pound of soap.

Method 1: Add Rose Hip Seed Powder to your traced soap. This produces a rustic look with added exfoliation properties.

Method 2: Carefully add Rose Hip Seed Powder to your water/lye mixture. This allows the powder to better incorporate for a smoother look, but still with exfoliating properties.

Method 3: Steep the Rose Hip Seed Powder with boiling water, strain the mixture with a coffee filter to remove the powder, allow water to cool, and then use this water in your cold process soap recipe. This method adds some of the properties of the powder including the color without the exfoliation.

We recommend testing in small batches to allow you to perfect your recipe. You may decide you prefer a little more powder for more exfoliation or less powder for less exfoliation.
