"Shampoo bar ingredient" COMMENTS:  This product came as part of the clarifying shampoo bar kit I ordered. I’ve not worked with these SCI noodles before and I was really pleased with their performance in the project. The shampoo bars do not mold as smoothly as soap, but they are luxurious with richer lather than my salon shampoo. I’m sure the molding will improve with the next batch. "Easy to work with " COMMENTS:  I made my first shampoo bars and found an easy way to melt them. I have a coffee warmer and put my SCI in a glass measuring cup and popped it on that with a paper towel over it, to keep the heat in, of course it takes a while but it’s less messy than a double boiler. "Wonderful product!" COMMENTS:  The one thing negative about this product, but it doesn't matter where one gets it from, the noodles are very hard to melt if you go that route. It's easy to grind up into a powder. It does create a nice thick, rich lather. It washes very nicely from hair. I prefer this to SLSA or SLS as its very mild detergent. We have only used this ingredient with other surfactants, so you will need to research that on your own. You can compare the recipes that we do have available now to help. A couple tips are to grind them up smaller before trying to melt, melting them in another oil or liquid ingredient in your formula, or use a double boiler to melt. Staff Answer We have used SCI noodles in our shampoo bars but have not used them in CP. For increasing bubbles, you might try Babassu or Castor Oil, Murumuru or Tucuma Seed Butter. "I plan to make the shampoo bars in the April 2018 Handmade magazine. I have SCI powder/granules instead of the SCI noodles. The moisturizing shampoo bar calls for 4.05 oz noodles. Would you recommend the same 4.05 ounces of the powder. Since the noodles are being melted it makes sense to use equal substitution.
